Hu, the current CEO of South China Morning Post, is set to join Singaporean investment firm Temasek in December.
Robin Hu, chief executive of news publication South China Morning Post (SCMP), will join Temasek, the investment firm owned by the government of Singapore, on December 1, SCMP reported yesterday.
Hu will serve as the joint head of Temasek International's sustainability and stewardship group alongside current head Cheo Hock Kuan. Temasek International is a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings.
Hu acted as South China Morning Post's CEO since July 2012 and will remain a director of the newspaper's board. He was responsible for managing the sale of the publication to e-commerce group Alibaba, which purchased the paper from Kuok Group in April 2016.
Previously, he acted as senior executive vice-president of media company Singapore Press Holdings and was with Singaporean statutory board Economic Development Board.
Joe Tsai, chairman of SCMP, said: "It has been an absolute privilege for me to work with such a fine gentleman, someone who approaches everything with wisdom, thoughtfulness and class.
"I want to let you know that it will be business as usual at the SCMP.
"I have also had the pleasure of spending time with many of our editors and journalists in the newsroom and am extremely confident that we are in good hands under [editor-in-chief Tammy Tam's] leadership."
