Hobbs joins Enterprise Ireland

Walter Hobbs is appointed executive director at Enterprise Ireland.

Walter Hobbs has this month joined state-backed Enterprise Ireland as executive director of investment and finance.

Previously, Hobbs was involved in the venture capital and private equity industries for more than 20 years, initially as a general partner at ACT Venture Capital for 15 years until 2009 and then with his own investment and financial advisory firm, Virgo Financial, since leaving ACT.

In his earlier career, he qualified as a chartered accountant at KPMG before moving to become director at AIB Corporate Finance before leaving to join ACT, which manages AIB’s early-stage funds funded by Enterprise Ireland.

Enterprise Ireland has invested more than €800m ($890m) in networks of angel investors, seed and venture capital and development capital firms, including €53m for the AIB Seed Capital Fund and €22m for the AIB Start-up Accelerator Fund.
