Gary Hua leaves China Investment Corporation

Hua has left China’s sovereign wealth fund to join Penn Wharton China Center.

Gary Hua, chief information officer, senior managing director, head of investment operations at China Investment Corporation (CIC), the country’s sovereign wealth fund, yesterday left to work for Pennsylvania University.

He joins the university’s Penn Wharton China Center as its managing director, where he will work closely with senior administrators and all schools at the university to enhance the university’s visibility and engagement in China.

At CIC, Hua led the development of a company operational model and its IT strategy, oversaw the daily investment operations and worked on the executive committee.

Prior to CIC, Hua held positions at Great Wall Software International, Unisys and Haw Wireless, a company he co-founded.

Hua, an alumnus of Pennsylvania University, holds a MSc in Computer and Information Science. For his bachelor’s degree he studied Computer Science at Tsinghua University.
