Belarus looks to China for collaboration

Belarus is exploring a range of areas suitable for cooperation with China, including venture capital investments.

Alexander Shumilin, chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, has entered talks with China state-run holding firm Zhongguancun Development Group to explore areas of collaboration, the Belarus Telegraph Agency has reported.

The two countries are exploring opportunities including venture capital investments as well as joint technology projects and the development of infrastructure.

Both are particularly interested in cooperating in the sectors of information, communication, aerospace, biotechnology, nanotechnology, healthcare, energy and industrial.

Belarus and China hope to implement approximately 30 joint scientific and technology projects in 2016-2017. They are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding to fund these projects in the near future.
